WORK ON BRIDGES

MAINTENANCE IN OHINEMURI KOMATA NORTH DRAINAGE Bridges at the Paeroa end of the Ohinemuri County were reported by the county engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, at the April meeting of the county council, to have had heavy maintenance. The bridge over the Opukeko stream on Coronation road had been practically re-built, and the Tirohia river bridge had had further repairs. It had not been possible to proceed any further with Mill road bridge on account of not being able to procure re inf orc ng wire for the piles. A 3fiin. wooden culvert on the Wai-

toki road is in a state of collapse and concrete pipes for replacement have been ordered. In the Komata North drainage area difficulty had been experienced in getting labour for draining, but most of the main-outlets had been completed, or were under way, and most of the other work had now been let. The engineer’s report was adopted.
