VANDALS BUSY

MORE TROUBLE IN PAEROA CYCLE STAND ON PATH MATTERS IN HANDS OF POLICE Vandalism resulting in the removal of the bicycle stands from the streets in Paeroa was discussed at the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council when it was decided to refer the matter to the police, for their action. Mr F. Sparks reported that on a recent evening the stand in front of the Regent Theatre had been dragged over and left across the footpath in front of the Regent 'Grillrooms. Left as it was during the night it had been a danger to pedestrians. He moved that the matter be placed in the hands of the police.

The question of the site of the stand was then discussed by the council, several members expressing" the opinion that it was dangerous’ to traffic, especially cyclists in the dark.

Mr E. S. Moore stated that he knew of several people who had collided with the stand in the dark. He thought the angle of the stand should be changed.

It was suggested that reflectors placed on the stand would be of value. The question of the angle and the reflectors was left to the works committee to investigate.
