Instead of appliqueing or stencilling on curtains, cut out the decorations and paste to the curtain with thick starch. I pasted blue silk aeroplanes on tussore curtains for the twins room and later those curtains will make me a frock, when it will 'be simple to remove the decorations. To prevent pickled red cabbage from turning blue place a piece of cube sugar in the jar before the vinegar is poured on.
