HOSPITAL RATING SYSTEM DECISION AT MANGATARATA “ There is no need to stress the injustice in compelling ratepayers to help maintain the hospital when we are paying Social Security for this same purpose,” said the chairman, Mr G. Gray at the recent meeting of the Mangatarata Farmers’ Union when the question of Hospital Rating was under discussion. After some discussion when opposition to the present method of taxation was expressed it was decided that the secretary, Mr W. Buchanan, contact the local councillor and obtain his views on hospital rating and that members of the branch in the approaching local body elections would not support any candidate who was in favour of hospital rating.
