NOT SUITABLE

WHANGAMATA CEMETERY COUNTY ENGINEER’S REPORT From a detailed inspection of the s.ite for the Whangamata cemetery it was evident that it was not well suited for this purpose, the engineer, Mr S. Sadler, reported; to the March meeting of the Thames County Council. The greater portion of the area was low-lying and subject to tidal influence. The legal access to it also followed the beach and a road l formed there would be costly to maintain. It was suggested that other small areas of Crown land be inspected by the Cemetery Committee and the riding member, with the clerk and engineer, with a view to securing a more suitable area for a cemetery reserve and closer to an existing road or highway.
