SALE OF LAND
SECTIONS TO A BUILDER 21 ACRES IN BUSH STREET COMMITTEE GIVES CONSENT A sitting of the South Auckland Land Sales Committee was held in Paeroa last Monday, Mr Ching presiding. Associated with him were Messrs Mellsop and J. J. Shallue. The only case dealt with was the sale of 21 acres in Bush street, Pae-, roa, from F. T. Eaddy to E. W. Lee, the price being £B5O. The value of the property was not disputed, the committee merely being interested in the question of aggregation. Mr C. N. O’Neill who appeared for Lee pointed out that his client had eight properties in Paeroa. Four had houses on them and these were all let, one had a block of shops on it and another section contained the builder’s workshop. Another section was. at the back of the shops and was used to provide a back entrance to the shops. The only other section was vacant and would be used for building. The object in purchasing the land in Bush street was to have the sections available for the erection of houses in the future. The purchase was partly an investment and partly to provide employment for his staff and he was directly assisting in solving the housing problem in Paeroa by erecting such dwellings. It was not a case of undue aggregation of land. Mr J. B. Rowe, Crown representative explained the policy of the Government with regard to the aggregation of land. If additional homes were to be provided for- the people no opposition was offered to the sale.
Consent was given by the committee for the sale.
