PAEROA INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of the Paeroa Women’s Institute was held in the Labour Party Rooms on l Tuesday, March 21. The annual report was presented, read’ and adopted. Mrs E. Hill congratulated the secretary, on her report and thanked the committee and members for the help given during the-past year, which had been a very happy, one. It was decided to hand the balance from the Garden Club to the Soldiers’ Parcel Fund. ' Officers elected for the coming year were: —'President, Mrs E. M. Hili; vice-presidents, Mrs Marsh, Mrs Turton; secretary and treasurer, Mrs M. A. Hollinshead; committee, Mesdames Allen, Christian, George, Gunn, Homer, Marsh, Turton, Whisker, Williams; press correspondent, Mrs I. F. Homer. Mrs V. Turton, V. 0., presented Mrs Hill with a bouquet and stated she was held in high regard by the members. The secretary, Mrs M. A. Hollinshead also received a bouquet in recognition of her good work during the year. Mrs Andrews kindly offered to make the Anzac wreath as in past years. It was decided to form an “Arts and Crafts” afternoon. Winners of monthly competitions were: — Knitted socks. —Mrs M. A. Hollinshead. Best bloom. —Mrs M. A. Hollinshead. Preserved peaches.—Mrs H. E. Williams. Garden Circle. —Beans: Mrs M. A. Hollinshead. Spray: Mrs E. Marsh. Social half-hour competition.—Mrs Beattie. Points prize for honours board.— Mrs E. Williams. MONTHLY MEETING DRAMA AND GARDEN CIRCLES The monthly meeting of the Paeroa Women’s Institute was held in the Labour Party Rooms on Tues-

day, March 21, Mrs E. Hill presiding over a fail’ attendance. Reports from the Drama and Garden Circles were received showing that keen interest was taken and attendance had been very good during the year. Mrs V. Turton reported, on patriotic affairs. She stated that the 1944 campaign was opening with a street stall and that produce, etc., would be gratefully accepted.
