Miss Pat Neville of Auckland is the guest of Mr and Mrs Dale, Whitianga. Miss Hatcher, of Howick, is spending a holiday with Miss Lyon, of Whitianga. Miss Heather Dale, of Whitianga, is on holiday in Wellington as the guest of her aunt, Mrs D. Sloane. Among the visitors staying at the Whitianga Hotel are Commodore Dowding, Commodore Tidswell, and Lieut. Hudson, all attached to R.N.Z.N., Mrs and Miss ißaynes and Miss Robinson of Hamilton, Mr and Mrs Hyde, Mrs and Miss Rowe, of ' Auckland. Miss Joyce Creed is on duty again at the Whitianga Post Office after ' spending an enjoyable holiday in Auckland. Enjoying good fishing at Mercury Bay, have been a number of officers of U.S.M.C. Mr and Mrs L. Armstrong have been on holiday from Whitianga. Mrs C. Watts and her granddaughter, Miss Laura Robinson, of Whitianga, are in Auckland. L.-Telegraphist Bernard Tucker, R.N.Z.N., is on furlough and staying with his parents, Mr and Mrs Tucker, of Whitianga. Miss Myrtle Christensen, on the staff of the Whitianga Post Office, is on her annual holidays. Mr and Mrs R. Lowe, of Auckland are visiting Mr and Mrs T. L. C. Lowe of Whitianga. Cpl. Gordon Cooper, R.N.Z.A.F. has returned to Whitianga on furlough, having previously returned from duties in the Pacific. Cpl. Coopei’ is staying at the hotel. Ordinary-Seaman Alfred Simpson, second son of Mr and Mrs R. A. Simpson of Kuaotunu, is home on furlough. Alfred is training for the Navy. Misses V. Davies, J. Deeble, R. Pepper, B. Wilson and L. .Evans of Coromandel, have been spending • a camping holiday at Long Bay. Mrs G. Clark of Remuera, is spending a short stay in Coromandel and is the guest of Miss Mitchell, Paget street. Mrs Clark is a sister of L.-Cpl. H. A. Rouse who has been a prisoner of war'for over two years. He is now in Camp Oflag XIIB. Germany, which is a 40-year-old castle with central heating apparatus. L.-Cpl. Rouse was in good health when he wrote although somewhat disappointed at (being sent from Italy to Germany when the Allies landed on the Italian mainland, instead of being repatriated. Mrs J. Whitten is at present in Coromandel and is relieving on the nursing staff at the hospital. Mrs Whitten is the wife of a Baptist Minister who is a prisoner of war. Dr. D. C. Logan, M.D.8.5., has taken up the duties of medical superintendent of Coromandel and Mercury Bay Hospitals acting as locum for Dr. Birkinshaw. Cpl. V. T. Nicholls is reported as wounded and remaining on the missing, believed prisoner list, in a recent casualty list issued by the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Mrs P. Nicholls of Coromandel is his wife.
