ENJOYABLE EVENING

MRS V. COMER HONOURED AFTER-WEDDING PARTY GIVEN Mrs R. Smith of Whitianga, held a party recently in honour of Mrs V. Comer whose wedding took place recently. The room was tastefully decorated in autumn tonings. The guest, of honour wore a pretty frock of rose shade. The evening was a jolly one and much amusement was caused as each guest arrived, representing a nursery rhyme, four “Dickery Docks” sat near one another, but the gem of the fun •was one of a brighter mind, who thought she preferred the modern version of “The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe,” a modern miss who lived in a .shoe, she didn’t have many children, she knew what to do. Miss E. .Lee sang sweetly, “When Song Is Sweet,” and “Country Folk,” accompanied by Mrs E. Sharpies. Mrs Simpson gave a very amusing .sketch entitled “Calais To Dover,” in her usual splendid style. A piano solo by Miss Audrey Mohr, was much appreciated. The lucky winners of two competitions were Mrs H. McKenzie and Mrs C. Hare. Mrs E. Prestage was very good with her performance of “Oasca.” Mrs R. Smith presented Mrs Comer with a very nice casserole on behalf of those present and also included was a prettily decorated cookery book in which was written a recipe from each guest. Mrs Comer thanked her hostess and all present for their kindness and the lovely gift. A delicious supper was served by Mrs Smith assisted by Mrs L. V. Smith and Miss A. Mohr.
