ENJOYABLE EVENING CHURCH O'F ENGLAND EVENT Herb. Walker’s popular orchestra from Thames' provided the music for the Church of England dance which was held in the Ngatea Public Hall on Monday night last. There was a fairly representative attendance of dancers from the districts of the Hauraki Plains and Thames. Miss Pat Johnson played an aftersupper extra. Winners of two Monte Carlo waltz competitions proved to be Miss Cosgrove of Thames and Mr B. Hunt and Miss D. McClean and Mr B. Swale. I Mr S. Phelps was M.C. and a genI erous supper was provided. When using a substitute cream of tartar use a teaspoon of lemon juice for every half pound of flour to make cakes rise. Costumes, felt hats, gloves and suede shoes, can be successfully cleaned with salt moistened' with methylated spirit. Rub mixture well into the article to be cleaned, leave on for an hour then brush with a hard brush. If light coloured articles are done first, then the salt can 'be used for black or navy.
