PRETTY WEDDING
ARBURY—HALE CEREMONY IN THAMES BRIDE IN CREAM GEORGETTE The marriage of Edith Grace, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. E. Hale of Kopuarahi, to James Eric Anbury (Lieutehant, on furlough), second son of Mr and Mrs W. Anbury of Thames, was solemnised in the Methodist Church, Thames, on Saturday, March 11. Rev. Handy officiated and the customary wedding music was played hy | the church organist. The bride who entered the church with her father wore a .beautiful filmy gown of cream georgette. The fitting, long-waisted bodice was ornamented with dainty pin-tucking and deep cream lace and was buttoned down the back, while the full circular skirt which fell to form a train, was finished at the hem with a pleated frill. The sleeves were long and pointed over the hands. Her lovely cream tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a charm sheaf of white madonna lilies with palest pink dahlias and fern, the gift of the bridegroom’s aunt, Miss E. Rickard., 'Paeroa. The bride’s small nephew, Peter Hale, presented her with a’ silver horseshoe at the church door. Two 'bridesmaids, Miss Gladys Hale (W.A.A.C.), sister of the bride and Miss B. Anbury (W.R.N.S.), sister of the bridegroom, were frocked. alike in dainty blue georgette, which were trimmed at the shoulders and waistbands with appliqued blue lace motifs. The bodices at the back were long and fitting and full skirts fell from curved waistlines. The sleeves were puffed and gathered into a band, ornamented by tiny 'buttons, above the elbow. Chic little hats of. stiffened tulle and silk straw were also worn and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were of delicate pale pink dahlias and gern. delicate pale pink dahlias and fern. A reception which was attended by a large number of guests from the Hauraki Plains, Thames, Thames Coast, Paeroa, Te Aroha, Hamilton, Te Kauwhata, Waiuku and Auckland was afterwards held in the .Masonic Hall, Thames, where Mrs Hale received the guests wearing a navy model frock of wool georgette and navy accessories, her shoulder spray being of autumn flowers. Mrs Anbury who assisted, had chosen a suit of grandstand crepe in the new timber shade, braided in natural tonings, with matching accessories and shoulder* spray. The beautiful wedding cake had been made by Mrs J. Kerby and decorated by Mrs Smith. Mrs Eric Anbury travelled in a smart navy model frock, appliqued in white. Navy and.. white accessories completed her ensemble.
KITCHEN EVENING FUNCTION AT KOPUARAHI A kitchen evening, which was given by Kopuarahi residents to Miss Grace Hale, prior to her marriage to Lieut. E. Arbury of Thames, was a largelyattended function and was held in the Kopuarahi School. Music for dancing was provided by Mrs M. Bush, Miss Nola O’Carroll, Miss Rita Law and Mrs W. Dickson. The M.C. was Mr E. O’Carroll who in asking the guest of honour to accept the many lovely and useful gifts, said that she would 'be greatly missed throughout the district. She had always willingly assisted with any social activities and had been one of the main participants in patriotic efforts locally. It was with real regret that Kopuarahi was parting with Miss Hale. Mr L. James added to the remarks of appreciation and respect expressed by the M.C. Miss Hale responded in some wellchosen words before her father, Mr W. E. Hale, thanked the residents on behalf of Mrs Hale and himself, for such kindness and generosity to their daughter. Miss Gladys Hale (W.A.A.C.) as maid of honour, assisted her sister, who was wearing a charming frock of tan georgette with emerald accessories, to unwrap the numerous parcels. . Lieut. Arbury was also able to be present.
