PIPIROA INSTITUTE PRESENTATION OF AN URN RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONS The monthly meeting of the Pipiroa Women’s Institute was held in the Pipiroa Hall on March 15. Mrs Scott presided over a good l attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Institute prayer and hymn. After the ‘business of the day had been disposed of, Mrs Arthur Powell asked leave to address the chair and said she had a very pleasant duty to perform on behalf of Mr Powell. Mrs Powell then asked Mrs Scott to accept on ‘behalf of the Institute a beautiful electric urn. Mr Powell was accorded a hearty handclap for his generosity and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of appreciation to Mr Powell. The roll call, “Health Hints” was very well answered arid much information gained. Competitions resulted as follows: — Best bloom.—Mrs A. McAuley 1, Mrs J. Brown 2. Tin shortbread. —Mrs J. J. Mangan 1, Mrs A. McAuley 2. During the afternoon a competition arranged by Mrs :Standrin was won iby Mrs A. McAuley. The sales table under the direction of Mrs Powell did brisk business. Mesdames Walker and Tatton were hostesses for the day. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
