Mr 'H. W. McGregor of the staff of the Paeroa Railway Station has received advice of his transfer to the District Traffic Manager’s Office, Auckland. Mr J. F. Eames, town clerk of Thames, was appointed, from 11 applicants, clerk to the Thames County Council at the meeting of the council on Friday. He will succeed Mr D. Mackay, whose resignation was received at the January meeting of the council. Readers will be interested to learn that the Rev. R. M. Alley who (broadcasts from IYA on Tuesday mornings in the 10 o’clock devotional service is a son of Mr A. Alley of Hikutaia. Flying-Officer Alwyne J. Galvin is reported as killed on active service in a recent R.N.Z.A.F. casualty list. His father is Mr J. Galvin, of Turua.
