SKELETON FOUND

DISCOVERY AT WHITIANGA LOSS OF CAMPER AND SON RECENT DROWNING RECALLED The skeleton of a man has been found on the sea coast four miles north of Whitianga by a search party of residents and police. Although there is nothing which can provide a clue to identification, it is believed the skeleton may be that of' Mr Leslie Victor Barnett, aged' 36, of Mangere, who, with his son, .Maurice, aged eight, disappeared, after setting out in a dinghy from Mercury Bay, where they were camping, on January 17 last. Aeroplanes, launches and residents then made an extensive search for the boat. The skeleton was found at a spot known as “The Pa,” which is about 11 miles from the property of Mr H. Simpson. It is believed that the last flood tide had brought the body in.
