WARTIME STYLES
NEW FASHION IN BRITAIN CURLS ARE NOW FAVOURED Fashions this year in clothes, colours, hair styles and beauty are to be more feminine (says a London newspaper), as a revolt against last year’s austerity. Service women have created a demand for glamour in hair styles, clothes and cosmetics in off-duty hours. Senior officers encourage this. Permanent, waves will still .be obtainable at prices ranging from £2 outside London to Ggns in the West End. Curls are favoured, but “casual styles” have replaced the “sculptured” vogue of a year’ ago. Colours will be softer. New colour groups are pink and red from crayon pink, a new pinky-beige, to sail red. Colour harmonies in clothes and furnishings for people with limited incomes will be the post-war aim of manufacturers, advised by the British Colour Council.
