SCHOOL AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE TIMBER FOR THE NEW ROOMS The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High iSchool Committee was held on Monday night, March 13, the chairman, Mr C. C. Webb, presiding. Others present were Messrs J. Walmsley, H. Follas, F. Thorp, the secretary, Mr S. Wheeler and the headmaster, Mr A. E. Day. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs S. Wheeler and Messrs R. L. Darley and S. Oliver. Advice was received from Mr J. Thorn, M.P., advising that the Timber Controller had agreed to give immediate consideration to the release of the necessary timber for the building of the new rooms at the High School. It was decided to co-operate with the Paeroa Parents’ Association in arranging a social evening to farewell Miss E. Murray, late - infant mistress. Accounts totalling £lO 6s 2d were passed for payment. ' < The headmaster, Mr A. E. Day, reported that th er oils were 435 and 80 respectively, the .corresponding averages being 381 and 77. Evening classes iri: dressmaking and woodwork had been conducted for adults by the Paeroa Army authorities reported the headmaster.
