PLACE TO TURN

NEED ON HUIRAU ROAD TRAFFIC ,SQUEEZING IN DRAIN A request that the council provide a satisfactory turning place at the lower end of Huirau road to avoid excessive use of a private bridge which was causing the drain to squeeze in was made by the Hauraki United Drainage Board to Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. The drainage board sent the following resolution to the council: — “ That the Hauraki Plains County Council be written to pointing out that the bridge over the board’s roadside drain giving access to the property of a ratepayer of the board on the lower end of the Huirau road was sinking badly through its being used by heavy traffic as a turning place, this being the last crossing at the end of this road and as a result of the sinking of the bridge the board’s drain was being severely squeezed in, this causing considerable

restriction to the flow of water in the drain very close to the floodgate.” The county engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke, was instructed- to arrange for the necessary turning place to be constructed.
