NARROW ESCAPE
CAR DESTROYED BY FIRE ACCIDENT AT KEREPEEHI A car was totally destroyed by fire at Kerepeehi on Monday night shortly after 7 p.m. and three men narrowly escaped from burning when the vehicle left the road and capsized into the roadside drain. The car which was driven by Mr Kara Herewani who was accompanied by Messrs Jack Waikato and T. Tuhoa, was proceeding along the Pae-roa-Ngatea main highway toward Ngatea when the accident occurred approximately half-a-mile beyond the Kerepeehi Hotel. The car which was a tourer model turned completely upside down as it landed in the drain and burst into flame, the occupants crawling out to safety. Assistance was given by nearby neighbours and Messrs Herewani and Waikato were later admitted to the Thames Hospital.
