VERY KEEN DEMAND
FAT PIGS AT MORRINSVILLE CATTLE PRICES REMAIN FIRM The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company. Ltd., report that at their weekly stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday a small yarding of fat sheep sold on a par with late rates. Store lambs were yarded in good numbers and sold under good competition at prices showing an increase on late rates. The advertised entry of store sheep came forward in good order and competition for good breeding ewes was keen, values being easily on a par with last week s rates. There was a medium yarding of cattle including a small offering of beef. There was a good demand throughout and values remained film. A full yarding of fat pigs and a light entry of store and l weaner pigs came forward. In the fat section a feature of the entry was the number of pens of good quality baconers foi which the demand was very keen, porkers also selling well. Store and weaner pigs remained firm at last week’s quotations. Quotations: — Sheep.—Fat wethers, 24s 9d to 265; fat ewes, 13s 3d to 17s; fat lambs, 17s 6d to 225; good shorn store lambs, 14s to 15s sd; medium, 11s 6d to 13s; small, 9s to 10s; good b.f. woolly lambs, 14s to 15s; medium, :11s to 12s 6d; small, 8s to 9s 9d; cull lambs, 'ss to 7s; medium 2-th. ewes, 23s 1 to 265, small 2 1 -th. ewes, 20s to 21s 6d; 4 and 6-th. breeding ewes, 24s to 24s 9d; 4- breeding ewes, 22s 3d to 235; best 5-year ewes, 21s to 225. 6d; other 5- ewes, 17s to 19s; 6-year ewes, 12s to 15s. Cattle.—Medium fat Jersey cows, £6 to £7; light fat cows and heifers, £5 to £5 15s; heavy Iboner cows, £5 to £6; medium, £4 to £4 15s; store cows, £3 to £3 15s; bulls, £3' 10s to £6' 7s 6d; springing heifers, £8 10s to £8 15s.
