TURUA FAREWELL
SGT.-PILOT M. WALLACE PRESENTATION MADE LARGE CROWD ATTENDS DANCE On Friday night, March 3, another function was organised at Turua at short notice to tender a farewell to Sgt.-Pilot M. Wallace. The residents responded splendidly, a large crowd turning out and the evening proved a great success. Mr H. H. Hicks, in asking Mervyn to accept an envelope on behalf of those present, said he knew he would carry out the job before him with courage and determination. . He congratulated him on gaining his promotion before going overseas and wished him success, health and a safe return. Musical honours were accorded the guest and in reply he said it was a great pleasure to see such a large crowd of friends and thanked them very much foi their kind, remarks. He added that he had seen some Turua boys welcomed home recently and he hoped to do as well as they had when overseas. Among Those Present Mr J. Pye was M.C. and music was supplied by Mrs E. Clark, Mrs J. Thrupp, Mrs J. Marceau, Miss Fox and Mr C. Robertson. Miss E. Elvin and Mr C. Tapp won the Monte Carlo. Miss C. Bond and Mr M. Burt were the winners of the spot waltz.
