POWDERED MILK
NUTRITIVE VALUE RETAINED TRIAL SHIPMENT MADE Full cream powdered milk ranks high in the priority of foodstuffs sent to the United Kingdom. It retains all the nutritive elements, as only water has been extracted. It has been found, however, that the air surroundsmall amount of decomposition. For that reason dried milk is now packed in tins in which the air has been replaced by nitrogen.
The supply of tinplate is now difliing the grains of the' powder causes a cult, so the milk is being compressed into blocks.
Investigations were made by the Australian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and it has been found that 331 b of powder can be compressed into a cube 9iu square containing food material from 2G gallons of milk. A trial shipment has been made.
