BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT GOLDFIELDS SHIELD VICTORY , i‘ The annual Primary 'School Basketball tourament for the Goldfields Shield was played on the Paeroa School Courts on Saturday in ideal weather conditions when the following teams took part:—Thames Central, Thames South A. and 8., Paeroa A. & 8., Waikino, Kerepeehi, Karangahake, Netherton and Paeroa Convent. The Netherton team proved the winners, playing off in the final with Thames South, defeating them by 14 points to 7. At the conclusion of the games the shield was presented' to the winning team by the Mayor of Paeroa, Mr Edwin Edwards, who eongra.ulated the girls on their win. The shield was previously held by Paeroa.
