PLAINS CHURCH

ST. ANDREW’S, TURUA ANNUAL MEETING HELD At St. Andrew’s Church, Turua, the annual congregational meeting- was held recently. Various reports were presented and revealed a healthy state of affairs. An apology for the absence of Mr S. S. Murray, session clerk, was received, and in his absence a report of the elders’ work was read by the Rev. J. Bore. Strong Bible-Class and Sunday iSchool activity was reviewed, and reference was made to the good work done in various ways by Miss Pauline Marceau until her departure for Auckland-. Board of Managers The balance-sheet was read by Mr W. A. Troughton, and disclosed ah improved position. The new Board of Managers elected comprised Mr and Mrs Cam. Miller, Mr and- Mrs John Miller, Mrs Tetley, Mr Mac. Miller, Mr S. S. Murray, Mr W. A. Troughton, Mr K. Fox, Mr J. Marceau, Mr A. G. Williams, the last three named being newly-elected at this meeting. Ladies’ Guild Mrs K. Fox, secretary of the Ladies’ Guild, outlined the year’s activities, there being 21 members. A show had not been held, but money had been raised by direct contributions, and this arrangement worked l very well. The Bible-Class report, prepared by Miss Nancy Lowe, mentioned a visit by the Rev. J. McKenzie, on June 11. The boys who attended camp at Tap a had succeeded in winning a sports shield. Four meetings had been held in private houses during the year. For the Sunday Schools, Miss Audrey Tetley read a report that had been prepared by Miss Janet More, who sent an apology for absence. Activities On Plains Mr More spoke of the Church activities in various parts of the Hauraki Plains. He expressed appreciation of people who helped' on the work of the congregation.
