HAURAKI ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR The annual meeting of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in the Coronation Chambers on Saturday night, the president, Mr B. E. Veale, presiding.. Others present were Messrs G. Stewart, G. Masters, W. J. Noble, R. L. Darley, C. Townshend, R. G. Mclntosh, M. Bailey, J. Sexton, D. G. McMillan and the secretary, Mr Edwin Edwards. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. W. Wild, P. R. Hubbard and Cpl. G. Fraser. The' annual report (which is published in full elsewhere in this issue), and balance sheet disclosed that the finances of the association were in a very sound position. It was decided to hold a modified show at a date to be fixed in November similar to that held' last year. The election of officers resulted as under: —
Patron, Mr W. Marshall; president, Mr B. E. Veale; vice-presidents, Messrs 0. Townshend, W- J- Noble, D. G. McMillan and P. R. Hubbard; auditor, Mr G. E. Allen;.hon. surgeons, Drs. S. L. Haslett and F. L. Clark; hon. veterinary surgeon, Dr. Siegel; chief stewards, horses, Messrs E. P. Fathers and M. Bailey; ponies, Messrs P. R. Henry, D. G. McMillan and F. Lewis; cattle, Messrs F. 'Sexton, G. Wilson and J. Paul; sheep, Messrs P. R. Hubbard and W. F. Johnstone; gate, Mr T. N. Fulton; entertainment, Mr W. J. Noble; weightguessing, Messrs V. Young, G. Stewart and D. G. McMillan; call, Mr K. Dean.
It was agreed to donate £2O to the 1943 All Purposes Patriotic Appeal—£ls to the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee and £5 to the Hauraki Plains Patriotic Committee. Returned Men Welcomed
The president referred to two of the association’s members who have recently returned from service overseas after having distinguished themselves in service to their country. These men were Cpl 1 . ’G. Fraser who was awarded the Greek Medal of Honour with Swords and Flight-Sgt. H. A. Wilson, who received the George Cross.
The association was proud of these men, said Mr Veale, in instructing' the secretary -to write to both of them and welcome them back home.
