MEETING OF CONTROLLERS SIREN ON FIRE ENGINE A meeting of the Paeroa Emergency Precautions Scheme Committee was held in the Borough Chambers on Monday night, the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. Others present were Messrs R. A. Mace, J. Walmsley, A. A. Jenkinson, R. L. Darley, R. Ganley, Constable J. L. Brown and the secretary, Mr R. S. Carden. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs D. G. McMillan, N. G. McLeod and Dr. S. L. Haslett.

The Mayor explained that in) future the organisation would operate on a very reduced scale as had been already outlined, in the press. Mr P. Leigh was appointed controller of the Medical Committee with Mr B. Bain as deputy-controller. Permission was granted to the Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade to reinstall the siren on the fire engine and to use the alarm siren for a fire alarm signal. The Mayor expressed his appreciation of the assistance given by the whole of the personnel during the period of emergency. The whole EJP.S. had not been over-organised but had been in a position to give adequate service had it been called upon. In conclusion he said, he -was sure that the organisation if required in the future would carry out any task asked of it.
