ANNUAL MEETING HELD MR P. BRENAN PRESIDENT VICE-PRESIDENT LIEUT. H. DENT There was a fair attendance of members present at the annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club held in the Civic Hall on Tuesday night, the president, Mr P. E. Brenan presiding. The report (which will be published in full in a later issue) and the balance sheet, showed that the year just ended had been a very successful one. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr p. E. Brenan; vicepresident, Lieut. H. Dent; four vacancies on committee, Messrs T. A. Barrett, G. P. Lamb, D. Courtney (reelected), V. Young. There were seven candidates for the vacancies >n the committee, the voting being as follows:—Messrs T. A. Barrett (1661, G. P. Lamb (158), D. Courtney 147), V. Young (127), G. A. Avery (123), C. W. Winder (84), F. T. V. Johnson (75). The Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, expressed the thanks of the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee for the handsome donation which the club had made during the year. The cheque had greatly assisted Paeroa in attaining its quota while the boys overseas had greatly appreciated the club’s generosity. The president extended a welcome to Sapper A. Armour, who had returned to New Zealand after three and a-half years’ service overseas, wishing him the best of luck in the future. Sapper Armour suitably replied, saying how pleased he was to be back amongst his friends.
