UPKEEP OF DRAINS

DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL WHAREPOA DRAINAGE MEMBERS TO VISIT AREA A deputation of four representatives of the Wharepoa Drainage Committee Area was present at the August meeting of the Thames County Council. The deputation comprised Messrs C. W. Winder, A. Jones, C. Elliot and L. A. Bax.

The deputation drew the council’s attention to the fact that a number of drains in‘ the Hikutaia riding were outside the jurisdiction of the Wharepoa Drainage Committee. It was up to the riding to give some assistance towards the upkeep of the drains in that area which was outside the committee’s supervision.

After a lengthy discussion, the council decided to visit the area and examine the drains so as to enable them to come to a decision.
