WRONG IMPRESSION
COUNTY COUNCILLOR EXPLAINS WATER FOR WAIKINO BATHS His desire to correct a wrong impression that might have resulted from statements made at the last meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was mentioned by Councillor T. Gotter (Waikino Riding), at the August meeting of the council, when referring to a minute concerning a petition from the Waikino 'Parents’ Association for the provision of water for' a school swimming bath. Because of a letter written by a member of the association, asking Councillor Franklin to support the petition, it had been inferred thac Councillor Franklin had usurped his (Councillor Cotter’s) position as the Waikino Riding representative on the council. He wanted to make it quite clear, so far as he was concerned, that there was not the slightest ground forthe impression that Councillor Franklin had ignored him in the matter. Because Councillor Franklin naturally agreed, as requested, to support the petition, there was no reason at alt for suggesting that that gentleman had got in on him (the speaker) in the business and he (Councillor Cotter), had never entertained any such Mtov.
