BRIDGE AT MANGAITI

SUGGESTED DEMOLITION OHINEMURI COUNTY OPINION The condition of the Mangaiti bridge was mentioned at the Ohinemuri County Council meeting on Wednesday last. The matter arose out of a letter from the clerk of the Piako County Council, stating that at a recent meeting of the Piako County Council, Councillor W. C. Kennedy had stated that he had been approached with a proposal from the Obinemuri Council for the demolition and removal of the balance of the bridge. The Piako 'Council had advised that it was of the opinion that it would not be in the best interests of the ratepayers concerned to restrict further the use being at present made of the structure. The letter was received, some speakers expressing regret at what they considered the delay in a necessary improvement and others supporting the point of view expressed in the communication.
