TYRE RIM FLIES QFF SEVERE HEAD INJURIES WELL-KNOWN WHITIANGA M£N ■General regret’ will be felt at the death of Mr Frederick Plows', the. well-known carrier, of Whitianga, as the result of injuries received when repairing a tyre from one of his trucks on Monday.
It is understood that, in removing the tyre, the rim flew off with great force, inflicting severe head injuries to Mr Plows. He was rushed to the Thames Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries early on Tuesday morning. He is survived by a wife and two children.
An inquest was formally opened by the Thames coroner, Mr W. Bongard, on Tuesday afternoon, and after identification had been established, it was adjourned.
