LOCAL & GENERAL

New Offices A reference to plans for new offices for the Te Aroha-Thames Valley Cooperative Dairy Company during the current year was made by the chairman of directors, Mr D. Courtney, at the annual meeting recently. The late residence of Mr G. Hedge had been purchased and would be made into up-to-date ; offices. The old building would be dismantled to make room for extensions of factory buildings and storerooms. Mr Courtney said that fire risk on the present building, which was old and worm-eaten, was far too great. Straying Stock 'Problems regarding the enforcement of previous resolutions prohibiting stock from straying on county roads were again discussed at the August meeting of the Piako County Council. ■Councillors who had men in their ridings willing to undertake the work of rangers were given authority to appoint them in this capacity. Three Horses Impounded That during the month of July two horses had been impounded at Waitakaruru and one horse at Ngatea was reported by the ranger, Mr W. W. .Williams to last Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council.
