MEETING HELD IN PAEROA HUIRAU ROAD WINS ROSE BOWL On Monday, August 16, at the Thames Valley ‘Provincial W.D.F.U. meeting held at Paeroa, the Huirau road branch, Turua, was awarded first prize in the annual rose 'bowl competition. Mrs- Ryeburn (Dominion vicepresident and Dominion Advisory Board), when presenting Mrs G. Scott president of the Huirau road branch with the bowl congratulated the branch on its success. The winning garment which was a dainty white organdy baby’s frock and bonnet, worked with smocking and .pink and blue rose buds was greatly admired. The second prize went to Ngatea with a pretty knitted cot cover. Orongo was third with beautifully worked- aprons. Mrs Scott, in replying, said it gave her great pleasure to accept the rose bowl especially as Huirau road was one of the youngest branches in the division, and hoped this success would encourage the members to greater efforts in the future.

The judges for the competition were Mrs E. Edwards and Mrs F. Hubbard of Paeroa, who have been judging for a number of years and the W.D.F.U., are very grateful for their services.
