REQUEST TO BOROUGH

LAY PIPES IN A DRAIN LENGTH IN ALBERT STREET A request that the council lay pipes in the drain in front of their properties in Albert street so that, they could keep the area in lawn was made by three householders, Mes.dames M. A. Cochrane, P. I. Maloney and I. Hawkins to Thursday’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. Their letter to the borough read as under: — “ We, the undersigned, desire to petition your council and have the drain running along our street filled in and made level so-that we can keep the grass cut in front of our properties. “ We undertake to keep the grass cut in front of our respective properties. It was promised by your council to level off the area and supply grass seed for same and if this is done for us it will give us some interest. Mr C. C. Webb,' chairman of the works committee stated that the grader had been run over the area to level it off but a little more needed doing. Mr H. M. Shand said he had inspected the place and the drain would be better filled in. After some discussion it was agreed to refer the matter to the works committee with power to act.
