NO MORE OPERATIONS
POSITION AT HOSPITAL CONCERN FELT IN COROMANDEL Considerable concern was expressed at Monday night’s meet: ing of the Loyal Hauraki Lodge held in Coromandel when the secretary intimated that information had been received to the effect that no more operations would be performed at the Coromandel Hospital owing to the lack of petrol to enable the anaesthetist to attend for operations and in future all patients would be taken to the Thames Hospital for surgical treatment. After a long discussion a resolution was carried to the affect that this lodge views with considerable alarm the information received with regard to operations being discontinued at the Coromandel Hospital owing to lack of petrol to enable the anaesthetist to attend and recommends that immediate steps be taken to make representations to the proper quarter to have the position remedied. NO OFFICIAL KNOWLEDGE STATEMENT BY THE BOARD When the Gazette contacted the Thames Hospital Board regarding the above position on Tuesday morning the secretary advised that he had no official knowledge of the trouble.
