LAWN TENNIS CLUB

REQUEST TO THE BOROUGH. USE OF STRIP OF LAND A request from the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Chib for the use of a strip of land at the back of the club’s property was approved at Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. The secretary of the club, Mrs H. Handley, wrote to the council as follows :— “I have been instructed by the committee of the Paeroa Tennis Club to write askmg the Paeroa Borough Council if they would consider granting the club the ufee of part of the reserve adjoining the club’s property, namely a strip approximately sft. by 120 ft. “It is proposed to use the extra width to move the courts sideways during the season ..instead of up and down and so improve the condition of the courts considerably. Mi* D. G. McMillan spoke in favour of granting the request, pointing out that the club was prepared to carry out all the work needed. It was decided to grant the club the ufee of the land at the pleasure of the council.
