MORE FUEL WANTED
PETROL FOR SHEARING SHEDS POSITION OF SMALL FARMER “That this meeting of farmers request the Oil Fuel Controller to give adequate allowances of benzine or kerosene to small sheepfarmers who cannot shear their proportion of sheep per gallon of fuel compared with large sheds which have a full staff of shed hands,” was a remit moved by Kerepeehi at Tuesday’s meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held in Paeroa. Mr L. Tye (Kerepeehi) pointed out that a full staff in a shearing shed; could handle more sheep per hour than in a small shed where a couple of mea had to do all the work. A large shed could handle more sheep per gallon of fuel than a small shed. The remit was seconded by Mr A. H. Blackmore and carried. The chairman, Mr S. E. Hale, said he knew that the Oil Fuel Committees appreciated the position and each case was dealt with on its merits.
