AIRMAN FAREWELLED
AIRCRAFTMAN JACK ROYCROFT WAITAKARURU EVENING In spite of the inclement weather there was a large attendance at a farewell dance held on Thursday last, August 5 in the Waitakaruru Hall. The guest of honour was Aircraftman Jack Roycroft. He is the third member of his family to go overseas, one having returned wounded, and has rehabilitated to civil life. Mrs Roycroft, the guest of honour’s mother was present as also were Mesdames K. and A. Roycroft. Many people from other parts of the Plains were present. In making the usual presentation of a cheque, the chairman of the Waitakaruru Farewell Committee, Mr G. Paton, on behalf of those present wished the airman Godspeed and a safe return. He spoke also of the good work the brothers had done. The popular Thames Collegians provided the music for dancing and were generous with the encores. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Mrs Stretton and Mr Death.
