RATES ADOPTED
METERING WATERHEATERS POWER BOARD’S ACTION The opinion that the metering of , waterheaters was inevitable in the interests of saving electricity was ex- • pressed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric 'Power Board when the adoption took place of rates indicated for domestic waterheaters by the Price Tribunal.> The chairman, Mr J. Price, pointed out that these rates differed only slightly from those recommended by the Board. The latter had allowed consumers 150 units at Id, whereas the Price Tribunal allowed 120. These figures were for the domestic waterheating tariff now operating. ■Some discussion took place on the subject of dairy waterheaters, which it was generally agreed had to be restricted in the long run if power was to be saved. Reference was made to the report submitted by the manager (Mr R. Sprague) and it was considered by the chairman and most, members that little individual' would be imposed for excessive use ' had been restricted to rather a small class of, consumers. iThe attempt , was being made. the use of electricity in water-heat-ing by 20 per cent, provided that sufficient hot water, of sufficient temperature, was available.for dairy purpooea, Mr H. If. Corbett said that up to the present he had reason to belfepe that the position was. quite satfafaetdry. The report was adopted.
