RAINFALL DURING JULY RECORDINGS IN PAEROA SHARP DROP IN TEMPERATURE Although the month just ended seemed to the average person a wet one, the total rainfall, 4.74 inches, was well below the average for July when taken over the last 29 years, 6.16 inches. The total rainfall for the seven months is 21.41 inches compared with 16.25 inches for the same period last year and 32.07 inches in 1941. Rain fell on 22 days during July but on no occasion was the fall very heavy, the highest recorded being I.o'l inches on July 26. Sunshine was recorded on 12 days, the reading being taken at 9 a.m. each day. Frosts were experienced on nine occasions while fog was recorded on five mornings. Barometric pressure showed little fluctuation, the lowest recording being 29.31 inches on July 21 while the highest was registered at 30.30' inches on July 6. There was considerable variation in readings from the thermometer, the highest being 61 degrees on July 28 while the lowest recorded was 38 degrees on July 31, only three days later when a sharp frost was experienced.
