OBITUARY
MR FREDERICK SHRIMPTON OLD COROMANDEL PIONEER With the death of the late Mr Frederick Shrimpton, aged 76 years, on July 24, Coromandel saw the passing of yet another of -the Peninsula’s pioneers. Born at Kaiapoi, Canterbury in 1867, the late Mr Shrimpton left New Zealand with his parents for South America when only a year old 'but owing to ill health the family returned to New Zealand the following year. The' family arrived in Coromandel in 1870,. his father taking up land at Awakanae in 1880. The late Mr Shrimpton was educated at the Coromandel School and spent the early part of his life in that district. For the past 26 years he resided in Auckland, being employed by the Auckland City Council. For the two years prior to his death the late Mr Shrimpton resided in Coromandel. * He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. The interment took place at Buffalo Cemetery.
