BEER NEAR DANCE HALL INCIDENT AT NETHERTON A fine of £2 with costs 10s was imposed by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M. in the Paeroa Court on Monday on Lawrence Murray Crosbie who was charged with being in possession of beer near the Netherton Hall while a dance was in progress. Crosbie who was represented tby Mr C. N. O’Neill, pleaded guilty. Constable J. L. Brown stated tha« on July 5 while he had been on duty near the Netherton Hall while a dance was in progress he had noticed a group of young men drinking near a car but due to the drain he had not been able to get to them at that time but had noted the car. Later Crosbie came out to drive away and when questioned had stated that there was no liquor in the car. A search had been made and the police found two some wrap*?-: ping paper. Crosbie admitted that he had had a bottle of beer in the car. Mr O’Neill stated that Crosbie had not been one of the group of young men seen drinking by the police but admitted he had had a drink early in > the evening. A fine as stated above was imposed.
