FAREWELL EVENING
MISS P. MARCEAU HONOURED FUNCTION HELD AT TURUA A very enjoyable combined Methodist and Presbyterian social evening took place at the Presbyterian Manse, Turua on Thursday in honour of Miss Pauline Marceau. Miss Marceau, who is to join the nursing staff of the Auckland Hospital, has been the organist at the church and a keen member of the Junior Bible Class for the past 15 months. She also taught at the Sunday School. Items, games and competitions were the order of the evening. Vocal items were: Mrs E. A. Clark, “The Sweetest Call,” and “I’ll Walk Beside You”; Miss J. More, “Somebody,” Mrs C. K. Fox, “Little Irish Girl,” and “I Heard You Go By”; duet, “A Perfect Day,” Mesdames Clark and Fox; Master Ron More sang, “Policeman’s Holiday.”
A humorous recitation was given by Rev. More and a pianoforte solo was given by the guest of honour. In presenting Miss Marceau with a handsome handbag, Rev. More spoke in enthusiastic terms of her ability as an organist and dfevotion to her duties as a Sunday School teacher. On behalf of the Methodist Church Rev. Crammon spoke of how he had appreciated Pauline coming Sunday after Sunday to take her place at the organ.
Mr R. Baker, speaking as a member of the church, wished Pauline all the best in her career.
Miss Marceau suitably replied. Among- those present were Mesdames C. V. Marceau, E. A. Clark, C. K. Fox, J. C. Miller Jnr., R. Harrison, Reg. Baker. Misses P. Marceau, J. More, M. Murray, G. Fox, F.
