WAIKAWAU ROAD

METALLING AND IMPROVING GOVERNMENT GRANT OF £350 ■Several representations have been made by Mr James Thorn, M.P., at the request of some of the settlers concerned and the Coromandel County Council that the Waikawau Beach road should be completely metalled and that some slips should be removed and general repairs made. Mr Thorn has now been advised by the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Works that the estimated cost of completing the metalling is £3oo' and £5O for the other work. The Minister has approved of a grant to cover this amount, and the necessary authority has been issued to the 'Public Works District Engineer at Auckland.
