A LOVELY LAND
NORTH AFRICAN TRAVELS LETTER PROM ALGIERS •‘This is a very lovely laud,” wrote Miss Jean Begg, Director in the Middle East of the British Y.W.C.A. War Service, in a letter from Algiers, dated May 21. She had just returned from a tour of parts of North Africa, including Tunisia, and she described hei journey through miles of vineyards and well-kept estates; then through grain country with wild flowers as lovely as those seen in Palestine. Constantine, Miss Begg wrote, is a beautiful little town, with a big ravine running through it and bridges aero:;-; the ravine at different levels. There she had attended a Joan of Arc celebration. The weather in May was pleasant, with sunshine, sea breezes, and cool nights. Miss Begg mentioned that she had six English girls on her North African staff, but needs six more to cope with the work. She herself, when she wrote, was about to leave for the Middle East.
