NATIONAL PARTY
LADIES’ COMMITTEE FORMED MEETING HELD IN PAEROA A meeting of lady members and supporters of the New Zealand National Party was held in the Parish Hall, Paeroa, on Thursday afternoon, Mr W. A. Clark who will contest the Thames seat being in attendance. The following officers were elected: —'President, Mrs R. S. Carden; secretary, Mrs 0. Landman; committee, Mesdames W. J. Noble, E. A. Murray, W. F. Johnstone, P. R. Hubbard, C. S. James.
Mr Clark addressed the meeting and outlined the work which the ladies could do in the forthcoming election. Continuing, Mr Clark outlined the reasons for the election and dealt with the effect of the present high taxation to the average housewife. Taxation, he pointed out, reduced the spending power of the family income. >
At the conclusion of the address Mr Clark was asked and answered a number of questions. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr Clark for his address.
