LADIES’ HOCKEY MATCH PAEROA DEFEAT WAIHI MOST AGREEABLE OUTING (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of July 23, 1903). On Saturday last the Paeroa Ladies’ Hockey Club tried conclusions with the Ladies Club at Waihi and an interesting game resulted. In physique and speed footh clubs were very evenly matched with perhaps a slight advantage on the side of the Waihous. At the commencement of the game Paeroa seemed a little ■shaky and flurried and were at once driven to defence, but as they steadied to work, their good discipline and fine passing put a different# complexion on affairs. The speed and skill of the wings on both sides were especially noticeable. The game resulted in favour of Paeroa by three goals to nil, but Paeroa will have all their work cut out to win the return match if——Waihous go in for steady practice—and careful adhesion to the rules. The visiting team was treated with the greatest hospitality and and in consequence enjoyed a- most agreeable outing.
