INGLESIDE IN PAEROA
AN ENJOYABLE EVENING LADIES’ NIGHT ON SATURDAY The Paeroa Caledonian Society held another of its popular inglesides in ■the Parish Hall on Saturday night when there was a good crowd present/ dancing continuing until midnight. The evening was noteworthy ■because it was ladies’ night, when the ’ chieftainess and her assistants very ably conducted the function. The chieftainess, Mrs D. Murdoch was piped in by Miss Isabel Ryde. After the Scottish National Anthem, “Scots Wa’ Hae” had been sung dancing commenced and continued until midnight when “Auld Lang Syne,” concluded another enjoyable ingleside. During the evening it was announced that one of the society’s members, Sgt. Hamish Wilson, R.N.Z.A.F. had wogn the coveted George Medal. Pleasure was expressed at this announcement and Mrs R. J. Wilson was heartily congratulated on her son’s avhievement. Items which interspersed the programme were:—Mrs J. Stevenson, songs, “Dear Home 0’ -Mine,” and “Skye Boat Song,” a short play, “Curiosity,” acted 'by Mr and Mrs M. Thomas, Mrs L. V. Landman, Mr W. M. Primrose, Mr P. Caisley and Mr E. L. Hunt; Mrs H. McKee, songs, “Lilac Time,” “When Song Is Sweet”; Miss Fay Strong, songs, “The Village That Nobody Knows,” and “You Will Never Grow Old”; Miss J. Mclnnes, dance, Sean Truibhas. The pianist was Mrs R. Wemyss, while Mrs W. Kearns accompanied Miss Fay Strong.
