STATE OF ROADS
PROTESTS TO THE COUNCIL BRIDGE BROKEN BY GRADEtR Letters were received by the Coromandel County Council at its July meeting from Messrs Winstone Ltd., W. J. Kirk, F. Trickle and Mercury Bay Dairy Company regarding the bad state of 'the Kaimarama road. Or. A. Watkin urged the council to do something. He pointed out that the grader had broken a bridge which had never been repaired and the settlers were unable to use it. He was of the opinion that it was sheer neglect that this bridge had never been repaired and it was largely the cause for nothing being done on the road. Or. Watkin also mentioned the Mill Creek Settlement road where the settlers had ; to bring out their cream on horseback owing to the bad state of the road. He emphasised that these settlers had been paying their rates regularly for years and he emphatically urged that something be done on these roads without delay.
