Council, was tendered at Wednesday’s meeting of the council, Councillor Leopold stating in a letter that he had sold his farm and was removing from the district. Warmly appreciative tributes to the work of Councillor Leopold in the county, as representative of the Waihi riding, and his public spirit in general, and to his cordial relations with members and officials of the council' were paid by the chairman, Mr W. Marshall, by all his fellow-councillors and by Mr A. A. Jenkinson, county clerk, and Mr L. E. Shaw, county engineer. ■Councillor Leopold, who was presented by the chairman, on behalf of the members of the council, with a smoker’s outfit, feelingly acknowledged the tributes, and saidL that almost the biggest wrench he would experience in leaving the district would be in severing the pleasant and' amicable relations he had enjoyed with fellow councillors and county officials during the years he had been representative of the Waihi riding.
