MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE SOUND FILM PROJECTOR ’ The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held on Monday night, the chairman,' Mr C. C. ,Webb, presiding. Others present were Mrs S. Wheeler, Messrs J. Walmsley, H. Follas, F. Thorp, W. Morrison, S. Oliver, R. L. Barley, the secretary, Mr S. Wheeler and the headmaster, Mr A. E. Day. The question of laying down concrete paths at the High School jvas discussed and the secretary was instructed to secure quotations for same. Educational Sound Films, Ltd., wrote regarding a 16 m.m. sound film projector quoting £159 for a GaumontBritish machine which they advised should be available in about three or four months’ time. A sub-committee comprising Mrs Wheeler, Messrs Webb, Follas and the headmaster, was appointed to deal with the matter. It was decided to recommend to the Auckland Education Board that the two gum trees adjoining Mr H. Gallagher’s property at the Technical School be felled. Accounts totalling £ll 15s 5d were passed for payment. Members extended congratulations to the pupils and staff of the High School for the very successful ball held and the secretary was instructed to convey same to those responsible for the function. Appreciation of the decision to donate the profit, £3O, to the 1943 AD Purposes Patriotic Appeal was expressed. * The headmaster, Mr A. E. Day, reported that the respective rolls were 441 and 86, the averages being 388 and 83.

Referring to the High School Ball the report stated*— “This highly successful function was held on Thursday night, July 8, and a nett balance of £3O was handed in to the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee. “lam pleased to acknowledge donations of native trees and cuttings for the High School gardens from 1 Mr R. Hubbard, Mr Brown and Mrs Faber,” the report concluded.
